Raising awareness of support services, providing educational and self-help courses, and training health professionals to recognise symptoms of psychological distress in older people are among the recommendations from this report for Shine that Atlantic funded. It is the first qualitative mental health research in the Republic of Ireland that has examined the reasons for nondisclosure of psychological distress by age 50+ adults in primary care and has developed strategies for responding to the needs of older adults with mental health difficulties.
Shine is an Atlantic grantee.
