OLDER people are being wrongly blamed for the recession, campaigners warned yesterday.
The Older and Bolder group, set up to fight government cuts to services for pensioners, claimed ageism is becoming worse in the economic downturn.
NUI Maynooth lecturer Joe Larragy said clichés are being thrown around which suggests the financial crisis is being deepened by the money spent on older people.
The group issued the warning as it launched a submission to Minister for Older People Aine Brady.
