Vietnam: PM’s opinions on some foreign-funded projects

The PM gave permissions on August 26 to the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Vietnam Lawyers’ Association to take over foreign-funded projects separately. The MoH will adopt the 24-month Project “Capacity increasing in research and training activities of the Injury Prevention and Policy Research Center, Public Health University, stage 1, 2008-2009″ granted with a non-refundable aid by the US Atlantic Philanthropies. The Government chief allowed the Vietnam Lawyers’ Association to undertake the Project Boosting the prevention of domestic violence and women’s participation into political life in ten provinces of Vietnam”. Funded by the US Regional Fund for Women Affairs, the project will be carried out for one year in ten provinces of Tuyen Quang, Bac Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Phu Tho, Hoa Binh, Ha Tinh, Nam Dinh, Yen Bai, Thua Thien Hue, and Binh Dinh. On the same day, the PM approved the portfolio “Purchase of rail tracks for railway maintenance and repair” using preferential credits from the Austrian Government. Out of the total package of 50 million, the first loan is worth of 10 million. – VGP
